Meet Matthew Alvarado

At 14, I learned of an impending move out of my home state of Texas.

So I bought a camera.

I spent that summer chasing long sunsets, impromptu gatherings, rock concerts and every bright orange spark that danced off backyard campfires as my friends and I told our last stories together — or so I thought.

It was in those fleeting moments that I fell in love with photography. Little did I know, that passion would take me around the world to capture these same precious moments for others.

Before my wedding journey began, there was music. I spent years shooting editorials for Sony, Virgin, Capitol and AP Magazine — collaborating with PR teams, indie artists, and creative directors on work that was restless and creatively demanding. It taught me how to find the soul of a moment before it disappears. Which is why you’ll never find a calmer presence on a wedding day than mine.

I was born in Texas, but Hawaii raised me. It's where I met my wife, where our first son was born, and where I learned that a dip in the freezing waters of ‘Iao Valley renews the soul.

That reverence for life’s little moments — its sacred places and people — travels with me wherever work leads.

My work has appeared in ELLE Japan, Vogue Australia, Brides, The Lane, and Hello Fashion UK.
